Bulletproof Vests
Bulletproof Vests are the standard for anti-ballistic protection. These vests are used every day by the military, law enforcement and security personnel. Bullet Proof Vests are lightweight and may be either concealed, unlike most Plate Carriers, or worn externally.
Ballistic Armor / Plate Inserts may be included or sold separately and come in various levels of protection such as NIJ Level II, Level III, and Level IIIA.

BALLISTIC PROTECTION

BALLISTIC VESTS
Police vests are an example of ballistic vests. These police tactical vests can be concealable armor, tactical armor, armor carrier vests or even soft body armor. They help absorb the impact and reduce or stop penetration to the body from firearm-fired projectiles and shrapnel from explosions.
STAB PROOF VESTS
Stab proof vests are usually worn by police, paramedics and security staff who need protection from the possibility of stab attacks/knife fights. A stab vest is a reinforced piece of police body armor, worn under or over other items of clothing, which is designed to resist knife attacks to the chest, back and sides.
SPIKE PROOF VESTS
One may think that stab proof vests are the same as spike proof vests, but there is a major difference. A main difference between the vests is that the vests that a stab-proof armor vest uses Kevlar and chainmail and/or plastic laminate to create a tough surface that can stop the penetration of weapons.

When you purchase armor, it is important for agencies to consider the threat levels their officers and personnel face every day. NIJ, National Institute of Justice, has created body armor performance standards. It is broken down into different body armor levels based upon degree of threat. Level IIA – Tested to withstand 9mm and .40 S&W ammunition fired from short barrel handguns. No rifle ammunition protection.
Level II – Tested to withstand 9mm and .357 Magnum ammunition fired from short barrel handguns. No rifle ammunition protection.
Level IIIA – Tested to withstand .357 SIG and .44 Magnum ammunition fired from longer barrel handguns. No rifle ammunition protection.
Level III – Tested to withstand 7.62mm (M80) lead core rifle ammunition.
Level IV – Tested to withstand .30 caliber Armor Piercing Rifle Round (M2 AP) ammunition.
